Andrea Lee

Andrea ‘KGB’ Lee put on another great perfomance last Friday on LFA 23. The flyweight champion defended her belt against Jamie Thorton with a beautiful kimura after displaying some of her vicious striking game.

It was not easy for Andrea to find an opponent willing to get in the cage her. Apparently, the belt wasn’t motivation enough to get in the cage with her, after watching the fight, it’s easy to tell why. Lee picked her opponent apart with huge overhand rights, hooks to the body, knees and elbows from the clinch, you name it, she threw it.

The first round was a beating, ‘KGB’ Lee dominated from start to end, while Thorton managed to take all the damage and stay in the fight. The beginning of the second round started in similar fashion until Andrea took the fight to the ground and Thorton had no answer on the mat, the champion was able to sink a kimura and earn herself a victory at 2:54.

Andrea, who remains active in Legacy Fighting Alliance as well as Invicta FC, is now on a streak of four victories. Each time she steps into the cage her performances seem to be better than the previous one. At 28 years of age, it feels like now it’s just a matter of time before we see her in the newly created women’s flyweight division of the UFC.

Andrea decided not to try out for The Ultimate Fighter 26 as she felt she has made a name for herself and preferred to let a back injury heal. She also stated that sharing a house with 15 other fighters wasn’t really appealing for her and would rather spend time with her daughter. However, the UFC belt is one of her goals, and she admitted it in a recent interview with MMAjunkie.

“I’m scheduled to fight again for Invicta FC before the end of the year, and I’m looking forward to that. So hopefully at the beginning of next year y’all will see me in the UFC. Who knows?”

Hopefully we will see her in the UFC next year, she has the skills to eventually fight for that belt.
