Dana White - Demetrious Johnson

As we know, the champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson complained about the fact that UFC has not given him any new belts for any of his defenses. What pissed off the best pound for pound fighter in MMA was to see people like Daniel Cormier or Michael Bisping have three and two belts respectively. Last night, Megan Olivi caught up to UFC president Dana White and asked him what the promotion will do to even the score with Johnson.

“I’m going to get him his belts. He’s definitely keeping the belt from tonight, and I guess I’ve got some catching up to do. Listen, that’s not the way it works. People don’t win belts every time. You defend your title, and you keep your belt. If we’re handing out belts every single defense here – that’s a lot of money.”

So in a matter of seconds and just as he was explaining, Dana went from assuring Johnson would get his belts, to claiming not everyone gets belts each time. Then it looked like as he was doing some mental math and started changing his tune a little bit.

“It would be a lot of money to get him eight more belts. To be honest with you, we don’t even have eight more belts. We order them as we do events. It’s going to be a little bit of back up on his belts, but we’ll get it done.”

‘Mighty Mouse’ himself talked about the subject at the post-fight press conference:

“I’m taking this motherf… home. I’ve got two belts. Hopefully they send it to me, but I’ve got my two belts, one for my son Tyron and one for my other son Maverick so they don’t have to fight over one.”

How many belts will Demetrious Johnson get and by when, remains to be seen.
