Magana reto challenge

After the scandal for the altercation between Cris Cyborg and Angela Magana last Sunday during the UFC’s Athlete Retreat, strawweight fighter Angela Magana has remained active in social media. Magana has no regrets for offending the Brazilian and carries no guilt whatsoever, she even sent a challenge to Cris.

Opinions on the matter are plenty. Some people side with Magana stating that you can’t go through life punching people who offend you on social media. Others believe Magana has no right to bother Cyborg and think that what happen was simply the consequence of her constant mockery.

Whatever our opinion may be, it’s undeniable that what happened is embarrassing for an organization that claims to be the most popular in the world of MMA. Countless times the UFC has expressed their desire of changing the image and concept the public has of MMA fighters. The aim is to prove that is a discipline like any other ant that its athletes are that, high performance athletes in combat sports. Not bullies and thugs looking for the first opportunity to punch someone in the street.

The whole Cyborg-Magana issue is far from over as it is currently in the hands of the Las Vegas Police Department as Magana pressed charges against Cyborg. However, the case is expected to end in a fine and community service. The UFC’s disciplinary decision afterwards remains a mystery.

In the meantime, Angela Magana has just tweeted a challenge to try and get Cyborg to meet her on the mat and settle their differences in a jiu jitsu match. Magana understands she would probably die if she were to fight Cyborg under MMA rules, so she is offering to take the match to where she has better skills and would not be exposed to Cris Cyborg’s devastating strikes.
