Submission Demetrious extraños

UFC 216 will go down in history like the night Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson broke Anderson Silva’s record for consecutive title defenses. It should also go down in history like the night Demetrious Johnson made everyone understand he’s on a different level. There was no better way to break the record than with an epic submission which might actually win Submission Of The Year.

Demetrious Johnson dominated Ray Borg during four rounds before putting him away with an amazing submission. It seem like Johnson was going to suplex Borg, but as Ray was off the ground, Johnson transitioned mid-air to an armbar for a submission victory.

Demetrious Johnson gave a typical Demetrious Johnson performance. Since the beginning of the fight ‘Mighty Mouse’ established the pace and proved his speed and agility are just too much for any fighter at 125 pounds. True to his style, the champion tried to finish the fight in multiple occasions, but Borg did a good job defending submissions attempts.

As he has done before, Demetrious seemed to want to make a point in beating Ray in the scrambles, which is considered to be Borg’s strongest suit. Johnson was able to take Ray down 8 times during the fight and controlled him for over 17 minutes. After the fight, the champion spoke on the matter.

“Ray Borg was running his mouth saying my grappling game was garbage. I was just playing around, playing, looking at Daniel Cormier, and all that stuff, and I have hit that suplex to armbar so many times in the gym. I knew I was going to get it.”

“I’m not in the business to get hit and take concussions. That s**t is way overrated. I’m in the business of getting in here, making a fool of you, getting you in the air like a bag of potatoes.”

Below you can watch the submission from a different angle.
